Storm Summary and Projection:
Hurricane Summary POSTED: August 2, 2015 4:52 p.m. No Active Tropical Cyclones As of Sunday afternoon, EDT, there were no active tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Basin. There were, however, two areas of tropical low pressure being monitored. The first system was located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. Despite the presence of warm water and relatively low wind aloft, dry and stable air aloft has prevented this system from becoming better organized. This system will continue to track through this stable airmass in the coming days, and therefore future development is not expected from this system. The second area of low pressure was centered just off the coast of northwestern Florida. Due to unfavorable upper-level winds and the system's proximity to land, tropical development of this system appears unlikely prior to it moving onshore in the coming days.
